Why in the world would I want to password protect a post in a wordpress blog?” could possibly be the question speeding through your head right now… The only reason I’ve ever password protected a post is for membership purposes. There may be a ton of other reasons and I’m sure you can think of a few yourself. If it’s dirty or porn related keep your ideas to yourself LOL!!!

A Basic Breakdown of Why & How I Would Password Protect A Post

Permalinks that are improperly structured is one of the most common mistakes I see with blogs. You’re next question is most likely, “How do I change my blog posts so Google can recognize the titles?” Well I’ll be more than happy to show you how to fix your current dilemma my blogging Ninja!

How To Change The Permalinks To Your Blog Posts

A custom blog install is the best way to make your blog stand out from the rest. If you’ve never thought about learning a few little tricks that will “personify” your WordPress Theme you may want to reconsider. Here are a few examples where I’ve taken a standard WordPress Theme, made a few little tweaks and viola! Something completely new and refreshing!

The below screen capture is a custom install I just finished up for Kenneth Yu, The Puppet Master. He wanted me to install a theme called Thesis and when I installed it I nearly spit coffee all over my computer screen; it was so plain and boring and if left alone would look like every other plain, boring blog out there using a non-customized Thesis Theme.

How to transfer the DNS to your server, also called “Updating The DNS”, is something you’ll need to learn so you can repeat the process as your arsenal of domain names slowly grows. If you’re not familiar with the term DNS it simply stands for “Domain Name Server”.

I’m assuming you took my advice and grabbed your domain name from GoDaddy and a hosting account from HostGator. Well, to be honest with you if you’re looking to save money and quality customer service isn’t important at this time then you can go with whatever company you like just make sure the hosting company has cPanel.

What you need before installing a WordPress Blog is a domain name and a hosting service. Even though WordPress.org is a free platform and has the most freedom, support and the easiest user interface you must have your own hosting service which will cost at least $6 a month and a domain name that will cost $10 a year.

Another important step you must have completed is what the niche, theme, ideology or message will be behind the blog. If you want it to simply be fist-pounding rants and obscure raves then so be it. That’s the freedom you’ll have with a self-hosted WordPress blog.

“How do I make money with my blog?” is one of the top three questions I’m asked and it’s a good one!

First of all there are a few different ways you can make money with your blog and second of all you should ask yourself which platform will you be using; a self hosted WordPress.org blog, Blogger blog or a WordPress.com blog?

Here’s my opinion about the three platforms…

The Antique-Engravings.com Blog installation has been a real big challenge for me. But you know what? I love every single minute of it! Sure, I may have a little less hair but I never thought I could learn so much so fast about customizing WordPress Blogs, seriously!

So I would like to thank Tim Warren for pushing me passed my comfort zone, whether it was on purpose or not!

As you can tell I’ve placed a screen cap of the Antique-Engravings blog to the left. If you’d like to know what template I used, it was the Egecia WordPress Theme. (Follow that link if you’d like to see what it used to look like before I customized it ;) )
