How Do I Make Money With My Blog?

“How do I make money with my blog?” is one of the top three questions I’m asked and it’s a good one!

First of all there are a few different ways you can make money with your blog and second of all you should ask yourself which platform will you be using; a self hosted WordPress.org blog, Blogger blog or a WordPress.com blog?

Here’s my opinion about the three platforms…

1. WordPress.com: not a big fan of them. Sure it’s a free service and beggars can’t be choosers but when there are better services and they’re free as well I’ll be a “chooser” and go with something else.Now understand that if all you’d like to do is start a blog, post about your feelings and thoughts while sharing a few photos without monetizing your efforts then by all means go with WordPress.com if you’d like. But once you start promoting affiliates products/services and try to make money with the blog you’ve created they will most likely shut you down. They frown on any money-generating activity…
2. Blogger.com: This was the first platform I ever used and actually STILL use them for promoting various affiliate products. You have a lot more freedom with this platform and it’s rumored you’ll get better organic ranking because it’s hosted by Google. Whether or not it’s actually true is another thing. What I do know is I’ll create a Blogger blog for a product I’m an affiliate for and see how it does before I purchase a domain name for the product and put it on a WordPress.org blog and hosting it myself.
3. WordPress.org: This is my preferred platform for the simple fact I can put whatever I want on my blog because it’s my site hosted on my server. The possibilities and endless!

If you decide to go with either of the two previous mentioned platforms then you can stop reading now because the rest of the post will simply make your mouth water for no reason because you won’t be able to implement most of the strategies I’ll be talking about now and in the future…

The easiest way to make money with your blog is by promoting affiliate products becaue the majority of the work is already done if you’re promoting a quality product or service…

• The product is already created and ready to go…
• If it’s a quality product or service there will be tons of affiliate tools you can use such as banners, email copy, product review, articles, email and forum signatures, the list can go on…

You can also sell space on your blog in the form of advertisements, quality backlinks or anything else you think people will pay you for that involves your blog. And there is always Adsense as well but that is out of the scope of this post…
