“How do I create clickable links in a PDF?” has rapidly become one of the most frequently asked questions from my clients so I’ve decided to do a quick tutorial for ya with a few convenient screen captures ;) !

Now, I’m going to assume you already have your ebook completed in a Microsoft Word Document and the next step is to place it in PDF form using Adobe. This process is fairly simple and straight-forward but if you use the wrong option in the Word Doc your links won’t be clickable and what’s the point of that!? The last thing you want to do is force the reader to take unnecessary steps to get to the product, service or affiliate programs you’re promoting in it. And YES!! You should be upselling into SOMETHING, whether it’s your product or someone else’s…

Let’s get started okay?

Step 1: Highlight the text you’d like to turn into a clickable link…

Step 2: Click the icon that looks like the earth with a chain link in front of it…

Step 3: Once you click the earth with the chain link in front of it a small grey box will pop up asking you to type in the URL you want the reader to be directed to when they click the text…

Step 4: After you’ve entered the desired URL and click “OK” the text you highlighted will turn blue, which means it is now clickable in word doc…

Step 5: Once you’ve repeated that process with all of the text you want to turn into a clickable link it’s time to finish up and print the PDF and all you do is click the option “Adobe PDF”. Once you’ve done that a drop down menu will appear; choose the “Create Adobe PDF” option. If you create the PDF any other way the text you turned into a clickable link will remain blue but it will no longer be clickable…

AND THERE YA GO!

You have now created a PDF with clickable links! CONGRATULATIONS! Now remember, depending on the length of the ebook the process may take a few minutes. Fortunately as soon as the word doc has been converted to a PDF it will automatically open on your computer screen…
